Event report
In July, the Midlands Network got together to enjoy the warm weather on a walk in Northamptonshire followed by a delicious barbecue hosted by the committee’s chair, Jane, and her family.
The walking party consisted of eight linguists and two well-behaved dogs, and we all enjoyed the six-mile ramble along beautiful canals, across fields and through shady woodland. We were lucky enough to find an abundant supply of wild raspberries along the way. After the walk, we rewarded ourselves with a refreshing drink at the pub in Yelvertoft, then we enjoyed a delicious barbecue in the garden. The rain started just as we cleared the last plates away.
As always, it was a great opportunity to network with other linguists at various stages in their careers, including those who use languages in business and education, as well as translators and interpreters.
Join the Midlands Network for a walk along the beautiful canals in Northampshire, where they will also visit a Woodland Trust en route.
The walk is approximately 6 miles, mostly level and not overly challenging.
After the walk, attendees are welcome to join for a BBQ (weather permitting) in Yelvertoft. If you wish to join the BBQ, please get in touch with Jane Martin (janemartin@sunflowertranslation.com) to contribute £5.
The nearest station is Rugby. Please contact the Midlands Network Facebook group, or Jane, if you require transport from the station.
Please confirm your attendance by emailing midlands@ciol.org.uk.
