Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and Recognition
The quality of our exams is monitored independently and formally recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), Qualifications Wales (QW) and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA). This assures candidates that our qualifications remain of the highest standard and demonstrate consistency, fairness and transparency. All our qualifications are regulated and included on the Register of Regulated Qualifications.
The guidance we receive and the systems we employ allow us to achieve greater effectiveness in the delivery of our exam services and maintain CIOL Qualifications' position as a leading international Awarding Organisation. We review our policies and procedures regularly and revise them when necessary in response to stakeholder or regulatory feedback.
The UK's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF)
The UK's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) follows an eight level framework which is described here.
Mapping UK-regulated qualifications to the European Qualifications Framework
Ofqual has published a comprehensive report which explains how the level descriptors of UK frameworks map onto to those of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This is based on the Lisbon Treaty, to which the UK is a signatory as promulgated by the Council of Europe, of which the UK is a member.
